Be ready for the spring property market

With the lighter evenings and warmer weather, the obvious signs of spring all around and those searching for a new house might now be wondering how they can take advantage of the spring property market. Traditionally the rural property market is more seasonally driven with properties launched towards the end of March / early April. Getting in early is therefore important, so what can you do to make sure you are in the best position to find your perfect home.

1. Be ready physically as well as mentally – speak to an IFA, mortgage broker or to the lender directly to make sure nothing has changed which could affect your ability to raise mortgage lending if needed.
2. Give considerable thought to the whole package of what you need and require so you can be more focused in your search.
3. Whilst it isn’t easy to make a two-step move with children, work commitments etc make sure the sale of your existing property won’t hold up your next purchase.
4. Make sure your conveyancing solicitor is able to act quickly on your behalf.
5. Keep your mind open to new areas and possibilities – there are many ‘un-discovered’ parts of the region.
