On-farm auction success as 400 lots go under the hammer before Storm Amy hits

With Storm “Amy” threatening in the western approaches, we were fortunate to get this sale done and dusted before the weather broke with rain and strong winds on the following Friday and Saturday.

A good sized crowd travelled to the South Coast where approaching 400 lots went under the hammer on this grassland farm where our clients have decided to cease farming in hand and have let to local farmers under a 5-year term.

This was a good natured sale with farmers and dealers attending from across Kent & East Sussex and further afield, bidding on a wide range of grassland, arable and miscellaneous lots of livestock machinery, small tools and equipment.

Michael Bax and Richard Thomas were the auctioneers on the day and notable values achieved were £16,000 for the McCormick MC135 four wheel drive tractor with loader with a John Deere 2140 tractor selling for £4,650 and a Massey Ferguson 690 tractor selling for £3,900.

Sheep feeders, hurdles and gates also sold particularly well and with one eye on the impending storm, a small dingy with oars and lifejackets made £90 after spirited bidding!
