Kent GWCT Charity Clay Shoot 2026

This annual event was kindly hosted this year by Andy and Will Clark from Park Farm, Hawkhurst near Cranbrook.

Due to the exceptionally hot weather at the end of June, the shoot was rearranged for the middle of September when the conditions were considerably cooler and 24 teams from local shoots took part.

The winners who only missed 11 clays out of 300 were once again The Swampies from the Isle of Sheppey, including team members John Burden, Darren Ollerenshaw, Sam Goodwin and Lee Goldfinch. Coming second with 273 clays (their best placing for many years) were the BTF team who sponsored the event. The team included Alex Cornwallis, David Sharp, Phil Ham and James Smith. Third were The Stone Shoot from The Isle of Oxney.

Andy Clark provided an excellent barbecue lunch and the bar was sponsored by the Rose and Crown at Mundy Bois.

Lunch was followed by an auction conducted by Michael Bax to include shooting, fishing and deer stalking lots kindly donated by local farmers and keepers. A total of nearly £20,000 was raised for The GWCT.

There were rallying calls throughout the day for those present to urgently write to DEFRA who have called for evidence on shooting and game rearing before 1^st November.
